Tyler Perry heralds the season one finale of The Haves and the Have Nots. In the episode, Candace reveals to Amanda that her parents are keeping her inheritance from her. Jeffery remains convinced that Wyatt is gay, despite Wyatt’s protestations. Veronica threatens Jim once she walks in on him with Candace. Hanna lets slip to Benny that Tony is his father.
This Tyler Perry drama, one of the first scripted programs ever on OWN, chronicles the story of Candace Young–a beautiful and dangerously manipulative seductress seeking the fast track to wealth and comfort. After sleeping with and blackmailing the married Judge Jim Cryer, Candace successfully forces her way into the lives of his affluent family and upends its tense and tenuous status quo. Candace’s mother, the religious and morally steadfast Hanna Young, gets herself hired as a Cryer maid in order to keep an eye on her wayward daughter. But the Youngs aren’t the only ones with secrets; several members of the Cryer family have dark or shameful deeds to hide, and Candace’s presence inadvertently exposes them over time. Additionally impacted by the Cryers’ drama is the Harrington family, a mother, daughter and son closely entwined in the Cryers’ day-to-day struggles.
