Black Doll Offered at Higher Price Than White Doll in Toys ‘R’ Us

A black mother shopping for a “Baby Alive” doll for her daughter noticed a pricing discrepancy between two dolls identical in all ways but race. Though she spoke to the store manager about the discrepancy, the store would not offer her the doll at an adjusted price. However, Toys ‘R’ Us released a statement saying that the confusion was due to a pricing error that has since been fixed.
