Lenny Kravitz Discusses How His Mother Received Death Threats

Lenny Kravitz appears on Piers Morgan’s talk show. He talks over the novelty of his mother, Roxie Roker, playing the black half of the first black/white interracial marriage on television (which led to the first interracial kiss on television). The resulting controversy stirred up trouble for Roker, who received death threats for the the role she played–even though she was married to a white man in reality.

I can believe it and it makes me angry that these same people expect blacks to accept them after have issued all this hatred and racism towards  black and white back then, now that these women are out in the oopen with IR dating they want us to openly embrace them NO WAY!

Star Trek is credited as having the first black/white interracial kiss, in the 1968 episode “Plato’s Stepchildren” with Nichelle Nichols and William Shatner.  Also, Ned Wertimer who played Ralph the doorman on The Jeffersons was married to a black woman.

To each their own… the relationship between blacks and whites in this country is very complicated . Yes it is getting better but as Americans both Black and white we have a long road to travel in making race relations in the country better. what happened in the past is the past, even though the ramifications of oppression and slavery still effect the black community today it is time to move forward. If more people want to date outside their race so be it, It is purely a  personal choice that needs to be respected the same way that same race relationships are. That is the problem with people today,we spend so much time trying to run the life of other that we forget to live ourselves.

Move forward?? Their are STILL white people that would hang me from the nearest tree because of my skin color. Go to some of these political websites, read the stories and the posts people write and tell me AGAIN about the past being the past. Better still, pull your head out of your a$$ and pay attention to something outside your comfort zone.

if hiz daddy looked like him, no wonder the mother ignored the death threats. whatta way 2 die

When I read that gun sales are way up I think that things are much worse than we know. I think there is a politician that has been telling people for years that there will be a race war and that people are arming themselves for it, maybe.

I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY THE COLOR OF A PERSON’S SKIN IS IMPORTANT..IT’S ONLY WHEN A PERSON SPEAKS THAT THEIR TRUE SELF IS SHOWN
