Black parents protested outside an elementary school after homework questions given to third-grade students featured math questions related to slavery and slave beatings. The protest called for the firing of the teachers who wrote the questions into the homework. The teachers claim their controversial questions were meant to encourage interdisciplinary learning, in this case mixing math and social studies.
