“Middle of Nowhere” Director Says Movie Was a “Story That Needs to Be Told”

Ava Duvernay, the first black female winner of Sundance’s award for best director, spoke about what inspired her to make her film Middle of Nowhere. Emayatzy Corinealdi, who was the leading actress in the film, called Duvernay a “force to be reckoned with.” David Oyelowo, also in Middle of Nowhere, said he enjoyed the audience’s response to the film’s premiere at Sundance, and also talked about working with George Lucas on Red Tails.
