Rev. Jesse Jackson: Brown Asked to Move From Family Seating at Houston’s Funeral

Rev. Jesse Jackson spoke to Don Lemon about a “difficult” moment between Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s family. Jackson said that Brown at first sat in the front row with his family, but that Houston’s family had not made accommodations for him to set there. Jackson said that Brown left his seat gracefully.

The Rev should never comment on someone else family when he was trying to hide his kid from his mistress.

    • Prosperousnhim

Aren’t you judging him! You are not God! He’s the only judge!

    • LEGGO

He spoke up it was his opinion just like your expressing yours

    • mistie

You right.  Reverend has lost his moral compass.  He was fine seeing his mistress, taking her to the White House and so forth – until he got caught.

and what should u do judger of the law.. there is one judge. Bobby was treated without compassion and that wasnt christ like.

  • Anonymous

They invited everybody to the service and even let Kevin Costner speak like they were close friends and to not let Bobby Brown speak, sit or sing is very disrepectfull and they want to blame Bobby rather than look at what actions they didn’t take.. people of God…smh

    • mistie

Wait a minute…. You know Bobby Brown could not get up there and say anything even remotely coherrent.

      • Anonymous

        He could have mumbled something

My friend just met a black man on Blackwhitepassion.COMit’s where for men and women looking for interracial’ship for a fabulous lifestyle
It’s a nice place for black white sing’les, to interact with each other…no bounds or extremes in front of true love.

  • AndWhat?

it’s easy to say what the family should have done, but we are not in the situation, we are merely spectators. it’s hard to imaging being civil to someone that i fell was apart of my daughters downfall. bottom line is that grief is a strong emotion and the “reverend” should stay out of the family affair or at least refrain from speaking about it publicly.

jackson didnt say anything wrong… itys the truth. he only spoke facts of what he saw….

Funny thing is we havent heard of Bobby having a relapse or any trouble with the law since the divorce 3 yrs ago. He seems healthy he’s working he Moved on got engaged and had a child. Bobby Kris is a BROWN she’s his daughter forEVER Whitney married him with 3children. She loved him and them she considered them her children so I feel like they should have been accomodated better especially since some people were seated in the first 3 rows who briefly Knew her. Alicia Keys mom was on the 2nd row! I think messy jessie was just saying bobby was side swiped for the hollywood elite and show of it all. May Whitney rest in peace, but the people who knew her knew she was Real People and just a month ago her Bobby and Bobby Kris was out together all smiles.

The truth is we don’t know!  If Whitney and Kevin remained friends.  Or what relationship she had to those invited.  We know she died divorced with a minor and Ms. Cissy Houston had to step in.  I’m sure she did the best she could while buring her child.  Jackson should have kept his mouth shut.

    • ME:0)

Jackson spoke of WHAT HE SAW AND EXPERIENCE.  He is entitled to his opinion just as you are entitled to give your opinion about what he should and should not have said….

  • Skittlesgirl69

If his daughter actually wanted anything to do with him now or in the future I believe she would be seeking him out. It seems she doesn’t really want anything to do with him at the moment. You know how the family feels about you (Bobby B) just let your daughter mourn her mother in peace nad with those who love them both.

    • Jersey

Bobbi Kristina is the one who begged Whitney to divorce him after he spit in Whitney’s face and nearly broke her nose.

  • huh

why was he even there he doesnt represent anything or anybody! he needs to shut up and sit down, i guess he’s putting hisself in booby brown’s shoes. when he should said himself ‘im married i can’t have an affair and produce a child outside of my marriage’ go on jesse, have you caught up on ur child support?>

  • Amazing

I am very proud of you Bobby. You seem to have handled the situation with class.

    • Anonymous

I agree, Bobby handled the situation very well and I’m so glad he was not at the Clive Davis Party and no where near California, because the media would have blamed him for her death.

  • Amy

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are both opportunist and need to stay out of other people’s business. I am so sick of them both. If Jesse would handle his child support issues with his mistress that should keep him BUSY. Who is he to comment on anyone elses life when he was having an affair with another woman and produced a child and has the nerve to have REVEREND in front of his name. How dare him make a mockery of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am so sick of these so called pastors taking people’s money and being hypocritical. Yeah and I know some of you are saying no one is perfect which is true but he needs to just SHUT UP and get his own house in order before trying to give someone else advice.

  • THE BLACKNESS

This man needs to sit down and stop opening his mouth to bring more division. We need peace makers not trouble makers Mr Jackson.

    • Eric English

I think Bobby did the right thing by showing respect to his ex-wife and showing up, I don’t really know if his family wanted him there or not, but he at least showed up.  I was watching CNN the other day and Clive Davis basically blamed Bobby for Whitney being hooked on drugs. I think it was wrong of him to say that. I love Whitney, but she’s like 8 years older than Bobby. If she was raised right like everyone is saying, then she knew right from wrong. So, you can’t really blame people like that, maybe they had drugs in common before they even hooked up, who knows. It’s really sad to see how people here on this earth are so quick to judge someone or place blame on a person. It’s something wrong with all of us, their problem was drug, but everyone has and issue to deal with from drug, sexual addiction, gambling, adultery, etc… The list don’t stop, nobody is perfect. Bobby was invited by Whitney’s family, but if they were the cause or him leaving then that’s another issue to look at because I think it’s a bad look to call yourself a Christian and still have so much hatred in your heart to treat a person that way. Not saying that is the case. No matter what happen, Bobby didn’t cause her death, and he is in the process of changing his life around, even if it’s just providing for his family and trying to stay away from drugs. You have to give him some credit, he still showed up and tried as a father to all of his kids, so it’s some GOOD in him as a man.

  • CriticXtreme

Me like many others, can’t stand this man.

  • Thebaseshow

When my mother died my father said that no one was more important than his kids, seven of us. Bobby was suppose to bring his kids . They were a family and divorce doesnt mean that you end ties with your family especially the kids that you loved for 15 years . Therre was no one in that room more important to Whitney than her mom, her child and Bobby and those kids. They were suppose to sit up front and pay respect to their family. Bobby is hurting right now and he dont need  anyone treating him like dirt. Let something happen to Bobby then everybody is going to give him praises. Bobby was a star before he met Whitney. When a Black man stands up to be a man we should aknowledge it . Leave Bobby the hell alone

    • Brenda J

UMM he showed up with two of his kids and a whole bunch of other people. If the invitation said Bobby B plus two, then he should have only brought two other people not a whole damn entourage; he was attending a funeral, not going to the club!

      • JENNY JONES

BOBBI CAME WITH HIS KIDS AND SIBLINGS AKA WHITNEY’S STEP KIDS,BROTHER & SISTER-IN-LAWS THAT LIVED WITH HER, PROBABLY SPENDING MORE TIME W/HER THAN A LOT OF HER FAMILY & ALL OF THOSE CELEBS AT THE FUNERAL. HER FAMILY WANTS TO WASH AWAY HER DRUG HISTORY B4 BOBBI AND THAT SHE DIED UNDER THEIR WATCHFUL & CARING EYES NOT WHILE SHE WAS WITH BOBBI & HIS FAMILY. THIS IS ALL ABOUT CONTROL OF WHITNEY’S ESTATE THAT KRISSY IS GOING TO INHERENT MOST OF. DEATH & MONEY ALWAYS BRINGS OUT THE WORSE IN PEOPLE ESP CHRISTIANS…….JENNY JONES!!!

if they were people of God like they claim to be, Bobby would have been treated with love. Everybody is responsible for their own actions. You did run well Who hindered you. I tell u today these so called saints is something else.

To everyone who had issues with Jesse Jackson’s attendance at the funeral and his response to the simple question asked by Don Lemon, I suggest you replay the clip. Your comments seem irrelevant regarding his own personal issues; they were not in question that day. In addition to replaying the clip re-read your bible!! Clearly, you seem hypocritical and a bit confused in relation to understanding the WORD. Ignorance is a contagious disease. You’ve missed the fact that Jesse was invited, and respectively shared observation. He was not sitting in CNN’s studio speculating about the situation, he was an eye/ear witness to the outragious disrespect shown toward Bobby Brown and his 3 grieving kids, who were also Whitney’s step children whom she loved and cared for. Jesse is a friend to the Houston and Brown family that is why he attended both funerals, Whitney’s and Bobby Brown’s late father who past away last year. Whitney was not humiliated at her father-in-law funeral, she asked and was allowed to sing. Bobby wanted to sit next to and comfort his distraught daughter and her siblings and was denied. Just my opinion!!

That’s a shame, that’s his daughter too and the mother of his child is laying in that casket, why would they ask him to leave?  Death is final, why wouldn’t you at least let him pay his respects to the mother of his child, that wasn’t right at all…  How are they supposed to be christians but do something like that?

  • Root truth

Invited by the family and allowed to sit on the stage…smh. He couldn’t wait to give his opinion. Lemon broke from interviewing him to speak to others and Jesse stayed there, because he loves attention of any kind. He then starts crap. Rev. Al did it too. To think they used to be about business…

100% agree.  That is HIS child.  Not Cissy’s child.  If Bobby hasn’t molested or did unthinkable things to Kris, he should be able to be around and help console his daughter…period

  • Harold

Messy Jesse is angry that he wasn’t allowed to speak at the funeral he sat on the altar watching the real intelligent preachers get air time and he still salty about it.
