Psychologist Melanie Killen spoke about the different approaches white parents and minority parents take when deciding when to bring up race to their children. Killen said that white parents are much more likely to put off the task because of an attitude that speaking about race creates a problem. Generally, minority parents speak to their children about race earlier.
