Cullen Jones Talks Nearly Drowning, the Black Swimming Stereotype

Cullen Jones told Bossip that despite being an Olympic gold medalist in swimming, he nearly drowned when he was five. However, Jones rebuffed the stereotype that blacks can’t swim, arguing that black youth simply need more exposure to lessons. He touched upon his national Make a Splash tour, which he’s using to advocate for water safety education particularly among ethnic minorities.
