Lecrae said why he chose to make his mixtape, Church Clothes, rather than an album. He emphasized the importance of letting people know who he was as a rapper without the barrier of requiring payment for his music. However, he said that he wanted his mixtape to have a cohesive “album” sound, rather than that of a disparate compilation some mixtapes are known to have.
