Matthew A. Cherry spoke on finding his footing in film after a whirlwind professional football career in his 20s. He cited working around black directors on the TV shows Girlfriends and Heroes as stepping stones toward realizing his own interest in directing. Cherry also discussed his latest film, The Last Fall–a romantic drama about a retired NFL player struggling to sort out his life once his league dreams fade to disappointment.
