This explains a lot about Joseline choices. Her dad doesn’t understand, there is nothing like a mother’s love. Joseline feels abandoned by her mom, also witnessing her mother’s bad choices made it seem like it was alright to live a ratchet life.

That’s very true but there comes a time that you have to be responsible for your own actions and know that you want better. When I filled out my college applications and decided I was going to do something with my life my mother was high on a corner somewhere. I feel bad for her but only because she hasn’t learned that forgiveness is for you and only when you forgive can you move on.

I Think from a young age she wanted to do simply what she wanted to do!! and that justs what “children” do sometimes “rebel” , but at the end of the day she wanted the structure and rules because she is now blaming her mother!! This is one of the many things that happens when a parent uses and abuses drugs! But i do think that her mother is ready to make amends, but Joseline just does not want to forgive yet!!

This is very typical of Latino families – the female matriarchs would rather blame the child then blame themselves for what happened – All Joseline wants is an apology from her mom -something that will ease her pain – It won’t solve everything, but it is a start. However, Joseline is strong woman because of her experiences, so I hope she will forgive her mom and start a different relationship.
