Ava DuVernay, the director of Middle of Nowhere, discussed making the movie on a smaller budget than she originally imagined. The film’s star, Emayatzy Corinealdi, spoke on portraying the emotionally repressed lead character. DuVernay and Corinealdi also touched upon how they came to work together.
